A bit about me

Portrait of Mahdi Rizk

I studied computer science at the University of Michigan and graduated in May 2026.

Most of my coursework went into systems programming, databases, and web development. I built an in-memory SQL engine, a pipelined CPU simulator with a cache, and browser games along the way.

Today I write software at Teli.ai. Outside of code, I managed a restaurant from high school through graduation, running a team of 16, and I led the Society of Ahlulbayt at Michigan as president.

Outside of code

Restaurant

Managed front of house at Hamido in Dearborn Heights from 2018 to 2026. Scheduling for 16 people, 2,100+ orders a week, and a rating that went from 3.4 to 4.0 stars.

Community

President of the Society of Ahlulbayt at Michigan. Grew events to 70+ attendees and won 1st place nationally in ABSA's Spirit Cup.
